Nina Kvelidze, originally from Georgia, is studying Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg.
In my current painting process, I explore what it means to be a woman in today’s world and how gender roles are evolving. I ponder the essence of humanity, delving into the complex emotions, hidden drives, and desires that define us. I am captivated by the order of nature and its transformations.
Through my paintings, I investigate the delicate interplay between dreams and reality, imagination and truth, surrealism and abstraction. Abstract concepts, feelings, and emotions take form as figures and narratives. My work features human and human-like creatures, various other beings, roots, fungi, volcanoes, cells, and bacteria. It examines themes of sexuality, life cycles, metaphors, and symbols, alongside the stories and myths we create. Music, addiction, and fear weave through these explorations, touching upon dreams, intuition, and the subconscious.
Ultimately, I perceive the Earth as an organism—a dynamic entity that breathes and evolves.
